Clinical Services
The Baruch College Student Health Care Center provides students
with a full range of clinical health services, including initial
diagnosis and treatment for a broad spectrum of illnesses and
injuries. When necessary, referrals will be made. Gynecological
care, such as pap smears and pregnancy testing, is available,
as are immunizations and testing for sexually transmitted diseases.
Most of these services are free, although lab and some other
services may require a small fee. Over-the-counter drugs are
provided free. The center is staffed with fully licensed medical
staff, usually a nurse practitioner, an MD, or physician's
assistants. Medical records are strictly confidential.
Health & Wellness Programs and Events
Adopting health behaviors such as eating nutritious foods, practicing
safe sex, avoiding drugs, alcohol and tobacco and being physically
active can control and/or prevent the devastating consequences
of many diseases. The College's Health & Wellness
program provides various workshops, seminars, health fairs and
other health promotion events throughout the academic year to
raise awareness and help students adopt healthy behaviors. Events
are inclusive of and responsive to the diverse backgrounds of
our students.
Health Insurance
GHI's health insurance program is available to
matriculated CUNY students who are enrolled for six credits or
more per semester. It provides affordable medical and hospital
insurance coverage and offers a wide range of benefits. Students
who are eligible for Medicare are not eligible for the CUNY plan.
