The Transfer Experience

Transferring from one school to another can be difficult and intimidating---all over again, you must adjust to a new environment and community. However, because you are transferring from another special program to SEEK, you will find that there are many resources to help the process run smoothly.

Please consider the recommendations below as you begin the transfer process. Be advised that this list highlights the basic procedures and is not all-inclusive. Your school may have special transfer requirements.

  • Complete the CUNY online Transfer application.
  • Make sure to submit the Counselor Recommendation form to Baruch and UAPC by the CUNY-Wide priority deadline (October 1st for the Spring and February 1st for the Fall).
  • Complete the online financial aid application at www.fafsa.com.
  • Next, go to www.hesc.com for your TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) application. You must also be sure to indicate the Baruch College school code: 1409.
  • Once you receive an acceptance letter from Baruch College, respond online right away. Failure to respond will result in a loss of your acceptance.
  • Contact the SEEK Transfer Counselor upon your acceptance to Baruch College. You must also attend the SEEK Orientation prior to the start of the term.

For inquiries call 646-312-4649 or write seektransfers@baruch.cuny.edu.

SEEK Transfer Orientation

Whether you transfer to Baruch in September or January, you must attend the Transfer orientation geared specifically to Baruch SEEK students.

During this orientation, you will:

  • Learn about the campus and its resources.
  • Become familiar with the surrounding neighborhood.
  • Meet the SEEK Staff.

Transfer Credits

Credits earned at another college and transferred to Baruch are evaluated by the Registrar's Office. In order to facilitate the credit evaluation process, forward official copies of your high school and college transcripts to the SEEK Transfer Division at:

Baruch College
SEEK Transfer Division
One Bernard Baruch Way
Box B2-230
New York, NY 10010

Be aware of the following:

  • Credit is only accepted for courses taken at institutions that are recognized by one of the regional accrediting commissions.
  • Evaluation of your transfer credits usually takes a few months.
  • You are required to speak with your SEEK counselor, who can help you register for classes.
  • If you are transferring from a four-year school, a maximum of 90 credits can be transferred and applied to a BA or BS degree. Up to 93 credits can be transferred to a BBA degree.
  • A maximum of 70 credits can be transferred from a two-year college.

A special note for College Discovery Students

If you wish to major in Business at Baruch, you must first consult with your College Discovery Counselors for information concerning pre-business equivalencies.
